Only in the Netherlands have I tasted "real" tasty cheese, especially on the stalls on market days "Ouda Kaas" is my all time favourite (Old Cheese) in Enschede but probably all over the Netherlands.

That reminds me of a purchase I made in France a few years ago. Bought a cheese in one of those little round boxes. On the ferry back to UK I was surprised when no-one sat beside me, the cheese was a bit aromatic but I thought quite pleasant. When I got home and opened my little package I was amazed that the cheese had actually burnt through the thin card board bottom of the box; it was just a wee bit pungent. But it tasted superb with a nice bottle of red wine. Just thought I would share this happy memory. |
